I remember some of the loops that we needed to go through to keep Steam working on a ship. Where personal PCs can stay airgapped from the Internet for 9 months to a year. Changing date (windows and bios), system rollbacks, and just about anything else. It was pretty terrible. In theory offline mode is supposed to work, and does on Mac. But on Windows steam breaks itself eventually.
