Yup. I called bullshit on the story we were being fed at the time (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16161584 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16161584) and said it seemed obvious when you think about it that they really believed they were under attack, and I'm glad to see the truth finally come out. The bad UI argument could still be valid, but it definitely was not the cause of this.
