Ask HN: How to design this site?

I want to start development on a small side-project and the back-end developer said that it'd be easier for him to go about it if he had a front-end design to work from. The designer was supposed to come up with something and still hasn't so I'm taking matters into my own hands. I know this is somewhat of a cheat/shortcut but I'm no designer myself. I want a site that's highly minimalistic and looks something like http://yanismarkin.ru/en My question is, where can I find tutorials for something like this, or similar templates that I can modify? N.B. By the time the project goes live, there will be a proper design to it, I just need something to get us started. Thanks.
