WordPress Hosting Performance Benchmarks (2018)
- nodex-alex 9y agoThe results are way way skewed. An example is Wordpress VIP hosting claims that the average load time is 100ms You can't even get a flat html file to load in 100ms, DNS counts for approximately 30, SSL handshake approximately the same, web server anything between 10 ands 30ms leaves roughly between 10 and 30ms to transfer the data and render it and present it to the browser. Consider the scope of Google and their edge locations, they can't even get the small Google initial search page to load in 100ms which is probably 30% of the weight of the tested wordpress page, not to mention the sheer processing power available to Google. The author evidently has zero knowledge of what the data means in the test, it's more likely that what the author calls load time is actually time to first byte (TTFB) which is not actually load time at all, it's the time for the first byte of information to recieve back to the device after a request, this can be spoofed with various techniques and is not a good representaion of how fast a website page loads.
