Welfare. A country can have welfare or open borders, but not both, lest it goes bankrupt.
- abusoufiyan 9y agoYou're taking twenty steps forward from "deny immigrants" to "open borders" and also not really replying to anything I mentioned... I never advocated for open borders. But the immigration system in most countries has been working fine without any need to restrict them except for fear of the populace and a disbelief in the truth of liberal, humanist philosophies.
- brucephillips 9y agoAny system other than open borders will deny immigrants to some degree, by definition. So no, not twenty steps.
- abusoufiyan 9y agoI mean, you have logical reasoning skills. An appeal to not close borders further is not the same thing as an appeal for open borders. As I said earlier, the current system is / was working. Current appeals for further restriction aren't based on economics, they are based on fear.
- brucephillips 9y agoYou made no appeal to not close borders further. You expressed concern over a vague claim of "increased concern about immigration". If you have a precise idea you'd like to debate, express your ideas more precisely.
