While I understand that all investment markets are buyer beware, promoting crypto-currencies to investment beginners feels exploitative and a risky move in terms of public perception for a service.
The old adage "only invest what you are comfortable losing" has not traditionally been followed by people with little cash reserves, and large ambitions, especially when fueled by frothy hype cycles surrounding new crypto investment opportunities.
It seems unlikely that beginner investors will do their due diligence before deciding that the 1000% returns on crypto-coins is more attractive than the 10-20% returns in more traditional stock markets and will over specialize their investments. Let's wait and see how that plays out after the next up/down cycle that will undoubtedly arrive.

- Dangeranger 9y agoWhere I see the difference is in the downside risk of investing in crypto-currencies vs. the risk of traditional stock markets. Maybe if you are investing in penny stocks there could be a compatible risk/reward at play, but if you are investing in stocks with a normal growth curve then it's unlikely for a properly divested portfolio to lose 90+% of it's value or gain 1000+% within 12-24 months.
