The Visa argument has always been silly. Visa has an average transaction rate of 2000/s, and can support ~50,000/s. They support 25x the overhead of their actual rate. If Visa needed to support 1,000,000 tps, they would do it. That tech is much easier to develop centrally than in a blockchain-distributed network. They just don't have any reason to do it because they match the scale they care about already.
