I've never met a Perl developer who doesn't know and use other languages. By contrast it's much more probable that a "kid" writing Python or JavaScript has never been exposed to anything else. When you say you wouldn't use Perl again, that's a fine personal choice, but has zero to do with the merits of the language or the people who use it.
