Do yourself a favour and call it by it's name: the curreny is called Renminbi
- klodolph 9y agoThere's nothing wrong talking about yuan. Renminbi is just a bit more formal (note: not capitalized). Yuan is the denomination and exchange rates are expressed in yuan. The currency code for renminbi is CNY, or "Chinese yuan". Similarly we talk about reserves of "pounds" even though that's not the name of the currency either.

- a3n 9y ago"Yuan" is to Renminbi as "dollar" is to USD. Also interesting (to me) is that yuan, yen and won are all units based on the word for "round," in China, Japan and Korea(s) respectively. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_yen#Pronunciation_and_etymology https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_yen#Pronunciation_and... - kuba77 9y agoDo you also get annoyed at people calling pound sterling pound?
- iagooar 9y agoYes, I'm sure he or she is exactly that kind of person.
- Pyxl101 9y ago> Do yourself a favour and call it by it's name: the curreny is called Renminbi I believe you meant to write: "call it by its name". When in doubt, expand "it's" into "it is". The original would expand to "call it by it is name", helping identify it as wrong.
