Is it hypocritical to encourage someone to open-source some IP that they own, while not being allowed to open-source some IP that you don't? It seems like a chief architect would have a lot of pull in technical decisions, but a lot less in business or legal decisions. Open-sourcing the code would have to be considered from all three perspectives.
