When I was working remote my commits would show up on the issue tracker, which is great. Deployments to staging or prod would notify a log channel on Slack which is another good one. I don’t see how one can do better than that, since anyone can lie/rationalize under pressure of a Skype session; it’s better to see concrete progress, but this requires trust in both directions.
