I used DO for over a year (starting from late 2015) for development and production servers and have no complaints about their services or infrastructure.
But is it really that much of an accomplishment to be offering more resources for the same money, given significant drops in hardware prices over the past couple of years?
And I still see the same problem of some resources scaling linearly with money while others do not. For example, going from $40 to $80 gets you twice as much RAM and SSD space, but only 50% more processing power (6 vCPUs vs. 4) and only 20% more transfer (6 TB vs. 5). Doesn't this just encourage people to work on "scaling out" rather than "scaling up"?
Edit: from my experience, I would still recommend anyone but the most budget-conscious go with DO over OVH.

- ralmidani 9y agoI have not been following prices that closely. But the odd thing is, double the money still gets you double the RAM but not double the CPU power or transfer. Also, isn't it less costly for DO to provision 1 "large" server with 1 static IP address than it is to provision 2 "small" ones with 2 static IP addresses?
