Wow, things are really getting fucking ridiculous. Where to begin: "You could ICO anything", "Burning Man wristbands", "CoinDaddy". Aside from the obvious blockchain/crypto hype in the media, this encapsulates the stupidity rampant within the space too. Un-cynically, a real awakening in the form of some major event or crash seems very realistic. It's like watching tectonic plates come together; there's the warnings, then the tremors, then the actual earthquake. And along with that there will be the I-told-you-soers. At this point, maybe it's just worth assuming something bad will happen and preparing accordingly.
I'm not skeptical that blockchain and cryptocurrencies will play a big part in future technology in many impactful roles. What I am skeptical about is the people behind the current landscape of cryptos, and the imperfections that come with human nature. These forces could combine to a market altering shitstorm - the Great Depression of Cryptocurrencies - followed by a period of legislation, regathering, and the eventual regaining of trust in blockchain and cryptos. The river of riches won't last forever, and it will suck for a lot of people left holding the pan when it dries up.
