I remember friends buying both desktops and laptops at the time that essentially contained XP-targeted processor/memory configurations, but instead now were shipped with 32-bit Vista. It was a perfect recipe for bad performance out of the gate, and that's before you even get into the pre-loaded McAfee, etc.
