Can't upvote this enough; I to create a Makefile for my app (https://zenaud.io https://zenaud.io) and came to the exact same conclusion. Once you're using the -MD clang option to generate makefile directives for include dependencies, your Makefile is no longer simple -- in fact it starts looking horrible. It's best to avoid IMHO.
