This article is nonsense. It completely ignores the incredible role Universities have played in technology and science. It attacks the "catastrophic intellectual failures of the social sciences" while implying that, somehow, this would have been done so much better in a Vienna-like cafe. Notwithstanding Austria's shocking capitulation to Hitler at the height of Cafe life, or its mistreatment of many of these same Viennese intellectuals, most of whom were forced to flee Vienna. Universities may have their flaws, but they are the best chance for merit to triumph over elitism.
