Ask HN: Alternative to Resilio / BitTorrent Sync

Hi All, I have been using version one of Bittorrent Sync for years now for all kinds of purposes. It was a simple and straightforward, real time, bidirectional folder synchronization solution. Vision 2 was a step back, IMHO, and Resilio just made it more feature reach, but feature bloated. Aside from all that, it's also not open source, and still relies on 3rd party relay servers with no ability, that I could find, to run your own relay server. What I am looking for is a dirt simple, preferably open source, real time multi directional file synchronization solution like BTSync used to be, with ability to run your own relay server on a VPS. I tried SyncThing but last I tried it it was somewhat slow and not as straightforward as the all BTSync. Are there better solutions now? Should I give SyncThing a try again? Thanks!
