I had the same problem happen years ago with video using a song that's way out of copyright and already adjudicated in courts as being in the commons. I think most use automated systems to attempt to claim copyrights over your video. At the time, it was very hard to contest claims.
- user5994461 9y agoWhile a lyrics or a melody might be public, it doesn't mean the song is.
- loopbit 9y agoWhile a song might be public, it doesn't mean that a specific recording of the song is. The owners of the rights to the recording can only exercise rights over their recording, not on the song itself. Sorry to nitpick, but if we are going to talk about legal issues let's, at least, be precise.
