Has anyone written anything on how process affinity would help with Spectre/Meltdown?
- blattimwind 9y agoThe attacks require co-scheduling with the address space (thread/process) to be attacked. So, exclusive process affinity is a working mitigation against these attacks and other per-core micro-architectural attacks.
- zeotroph 9y agoUsing a thread to keep mispredicting as desired is just one (though faster) possibiliy. It can be done in single threaded mode as well. Also doing that on purpose would again worsen cache performance.
