What is your plan to access storage if your phone's motherboard gets fried?
- mschuster91 9y agoI actually would be fine as long as the SIM card is not fried - yeah I would lose some game progress data but that's it. My calendar, phonebook and mails are in the cloud, Whatsapp has regular backups to the SD card, as are the images.
- jonknee 9y agoSounds like a similar strategy would work fine with the iMac Pro...
- ansible 9y agoI, personally love and hate the disappearance of micro-SD cards with phones. Love, because many SD cards are crap, and will lose your data without much notice. Hate, because then there is no recovery option other than "travel back in time to backup your data", if you haven't already backed up your data. I sort of give phones a pass these days because they are size and weight constrained. Desktop PCs though????? I disagree with the decision not to use a NVMe SSD card slot on this product.
- scarface74 9y agoBacking up your iPhone to iCloud is turned on by default.
- AlphaSite 9y agoSo is backing up most of your Mac.
- jandrese 9y agoUse your backup. IMHO, backups are even more necessary on Mac. Apple has has the fussiest file systems in my experience and of all of the backups I keep in my house my wife's Mac backups are the only ones I've ever had to really use. Three times now over the past 10 or so years. Just one day she opens the lid and gets a grey screen with a sad Mac and I know that just like last time the repair options won't do squat.
- jeffbax 9y agoTime Machine has been a reasonably good option since 10.4, and hopefully anyone on this site has an online backup service by now…
