There is value in being able to package up the issue into something that is understandable and presentable to a larger non-technical audience. If a "cutesy logo" increases interest and engagement from a larger non-technical community, I'll take it.
- JorgeGT 9y agoResearch has concluded that naming storms/hurricanes results in a much better public response. People is more likely to take preventive action against "Storm Eleanor", rather that against an unnamed bad weather report, plus a name allows people to differentiate simultaneous events. In the same way, it is not far fetched to think that a name and logo are much more likely to convince users to quickly apply patches etc. than just CVE-2017-5753, CVE-2017-5715 & CVE-2017-5754. Plus, they are way easier to remember!
