Yeah this is freaky. 3:30 AM and my girlfriend and I just felt earth tremors near SFO. Turns out that there have been over 200 two hundred micro quakes in the last two weeks, and San Jose had a 3.9 a week ago.
Hopefully not a precursor to something more devastating. If there's another one >=3.5 in the next few days, I would recommend getting away for a bit. We certainly will be
- ac29 9y agoSmall earthquakes are not generally a precursor to larger ones, although sometimes they can be. Summary: small earthquakes incease the risk of larger ones by 1-5%, but large earthquakes are fairly rare so an increased likelihood of 1-5% isn't something sensible to take action on.
