- hawski 9y agoBecause for example most consumers don't care.
- igammarays 9y agoBecause this bug allegedly affects hypervisors/VMs.
- yeukhon 9y agoBut shouldn’t the fix affect the kernel performance regardless of whether the OS system is a guest or not?
- zlynx 9y agoThe bug affects transistions into kernel mode. Virtual machines have one extra transistion. A read() call in the guest calls the guest OS which calls the host OS.
- yeukhon 9y agoYou are referring to the slow down and hence the extra slow down for calling an extra syscall? If so, then isn't it technically correct that the bug will affect regardless of virtualization or not, but heavier penalty for VMs?
