What a headache of an industry to get into. Seeing the direction that Pandora, Soundcloud, and others have gone, I wouldn't touch this vertical with 10-ft pole and a billion in capital.
- jonny_eh 9y agoI hope that's your real name and not some political joke.
- semicolon_storm 9y agoGot a billion dollars? You can send a person to the moon, but don't even dream about getting into the music streaming industry!
- SethRich 9y agoHow many lawyers does it take to shoot somebody into space? A thousand fewer than it takes to operate a music streaming service.
- ghostcluster 9y agomaybe this lawsuit is good news for Apple stock then
- xyproto 9y agoAnd for pirates
- everdev 9y agoIt is too bad there can't be simpler legal ways to compensate someone for distributing their works. Spotify has allowed me to find and enjoy so much amazing music that I wouldn't have had the budget to pay for via iTunes.

- everdev 9y agoI pay for Spotify though
- tabs_masterrace 9y agoSoundcloud is obviously still very alive. I switched my Spotify plan to Soundcloud, because the independent stuff is so good there. With a paid account you also have access to most things you would find on Spotify. Also I'm pretty sure the Spotify Windows Client has some horrible security vulnerabilities, I don't trust it at all.
- SethRich 9y agoYou should use their web client. It uses less resources/permissions than the electron app and I prefer the barebones UI. The day they deprecate their web app (which I predict they will to avert adblocking) is the day I'll stop using Spotify.
