This is my long-term expectation as well. The best criticism of "BTC as payment solution" remains fees / confirmation times. And the LN directly addresses this. But who knows how long it'll take for a critical threshold of users to adopt LN payment channels. And, of course, skeptics will just find another point of criticism, which is good because that's how technology evolves.
