Ask HN: What are your new year resolutions and hacks of achieving them
Hello HNers,
Research indicates that committing to goals publicly makes it more likely for you to achieve them. So I thought at this time of the year, it could be a good idea to commit to yearly goals on a public forum. More specific the better!
Also, what will help if you could mention if you are considering a hack or a behavioral / life change to achieve these goals. Willpower wears out quickly and in my experience, designing a system to achieve goals works better than simply trying hard. Your system of achieving a yearly goal may inspire someone else to adopt it.
So, to start, here are my goals:
1. Meditate at least three times a week. Method: pay monthly subscription to the headspace app (so I feel the pain of paying every month)
2. Do Yoga at least twice a week. Method: prepay to a yoga trainer for at least a quarter.
3. Build better mental models. Method: make at least one specific prediction about the world (of business, tech, government) each month and bet on it in publicly on twitter or on one of the prediction markets
