Perl will convert from base 26 to base 10 if you know how to ask:
$ perl -E 'say lc (@a="a".."asdf")'
30530
- ralph 16y agoBase 26 or 36? Is 'a' 0 or 10? Does 's' overflow to the next column, like 09 in octal?
