Yeah, looks like it was a bad decision. I'm not too active here,but HN seems quite intolerant to uncomfortable questions in comments, will stick to just reading posts here.
- krapp 9y agoIn the long run, it's better to lose some meaningless internet points than to permanently wreck the readability of the thread.
- friedButter 9y agoWell the other POV is that if a comment contributed positively to a thread, it would have a positive score. A negative score means that the thread would be better without the comment
- tomhoward 9y agoNot necessarily true. Unpopular comments can turn out to be correct and important. Challenging questions that are initially unpopular can spawn interesting subthreads, and comments that are initially downvoted can end up being upvoted back into positive territory once enough of the community has had a chance to have their say.
