Watson Personal Assistant Beta

- cardosof 9y agoIBM's Watson is a brand, not a product - and there are certainly good and bad products under the brand. I wonder on which side this particular instance is at.
- braunshizzle 9y agoDefinitely not mobile friendly.
- minxomat 9y ago> Beta Cloud Services are not designed to comply with any specific governmental regulation or specific security measures. Client agrees not to input content that may be subject to any such regulations or required additional security measures. Beware if your IBMid is on behalf of your company / you as an employee. At least in the EU, there's hardly any (real) data you could use for WPA development at this time.
- SkyPuncher 9y agoI'm sure general consumer protection laws apply. I think this is specifically addressing things like HIPPA and FIPS. Most of IBM's systems would be designed with those in mind, this is just clarifying that it's not yet.
- orliesaurus 9y agoOpened this on a phone, regretted it. Time to send a PR.
- amingilani 9y agoUsed Chrome's "Make page mobile friendly" and could finally read the damn text.
- Eridrus 9y agoWhere is that button?
- amingilani 9y agoIt shows up on detected articles but I configured it to show up everywhere because most sites need it. There's probably an article out there somewhere. You have to change something in about:config
- sitepodmatt 9y ago<frameset> history does repeat.
- pmontra 9y agoYep, I had to "request desktop site" in Firefox.
- JaumeGreen 9y agoIt's not any better in IE on desktop. (at work, not my choice of navigator).
- mmvvaa 9y agoIs there a way bring the Alexa skills here?
- olibhel 9y agoThis looks interesting but it took me far too many clicks to join the wait list.
- jijji 9y agotoo little too late? IBM Watson has been around almost as long as google. You would think they would have shipped some pay-as-you-go API years ago.
- Lutzb 9y agoWhere is pay as you go missing? Pretty much every Watson service is available as pay-as-you-go.
- apples2apples 9y agoAnything labeled Watson get out the checkbook!!! My guess is that this thing will do less than Amazon Lex and cost $$$$. Reading the buzz on the page, I don't see any difference between this and the chat api Watson released last year. The one they wanted like $60K for my startup to use for 50 conversations a day....A DAY!!! Watson == overhyped, devalued brand
- Lutzb 9y agoHey, shoot me a message. This can't be right.
- apples2apples 9y agoI would need some sort of contact details to shoot you a message, or perhaps I'm not kewl enough to know how to do that in hacker news... This thread leads me to believe that it can't be done, but that was nearly 3000 days ago https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1028763 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1028763
