I've seen many engineers do something like "I want you to freely change your mind to concur with what I believe as a result of my argument while ignoring the fact that I have placed these rules in the first place. " The desire is for a free mind to make a decision by the fear of the outcome creates an incentive to create processes where the mind is no longer truly free. The "real" desire is never and can never be met because of fear imposed process.
