I'm not sure the world needs a new markup syntax, especially an awkward mix of HTML and Markdown. But I could be missing the point, since I just base this on my own needs. But thing is, talking about performance and scale goes exactly against your project's credibility. These are pretty much the two dumbest criterias when it comes to markup syntaxes.
