Physical implementations of quantum computers are in their early stages. These near-term quantum computers will be used for simulating quantum mechanics and approximating solutions to some optimization problems.

There has been some research for applying quantum computers to machine learning problems. An unsupervised machine learning method was recently prototyped on a quantum processor [0]. With respect to practical applications for machine learning; I suggest you wait a couple of years for quantum processors to become more mature. I also suggest that you start to get familiar with this new paradigm of computing right now if you are interested in these potential applications.

- sova 9y agoThank you, this is precisely what state I feel the tech is in: we are just figuring out the elements of qu-circuit design and it took a while to get from Binary to C++, just like it may take a while to get from Qu-nary to Q-up-up
