Quantum Computing Becomes More Accessible
- sova 9y agoDear HN please help Quantum is cool but I don't know what to do with it. What are some excellent things I can solve with a quantum computer and how can I incorporate probabilistic solution sets into something like automated self-driving or solving a chess game? It seems like there have to be various times at which we take a measurement to really get a specific answer for an interval. Really cool, but it occurs to me that we will have quantum chips that are asked like oracles (very specific questions with a presumably "clear" result) and have conventional processing equipment engage these results in a meaningful way. Is there some super secret quantum computer representing neural network transform that I'm not savvy to? TY HN and Happy Modulus.
- vtomole 9y ago>I don't know what to do with it Physical implementations of quantum computers are in their early stages. These near-term quantum computers will be used for simulating quantum mechanics and approximating solutions to some optimization problems. > automated self-driving or solving a chess game There has been some research for applying quantum computers to machine learning problems. An unsupervised machine learning method was recently prototyped on a quantum processor [0]. With respect to practical applications for machine learning; I suggest you wait a couple of years for quantum processors to become more mature. I also suggest that you start to get familiar with this new paradigm of computing right now if you are interested in these potential applications. >representing neural network transform that I'm not savvy There has been some research on quantum neural networks [1]. - sova 9y agoThank you, this is precisely what state I feel the tech is in: we are just figuring out the elements of qu-circuit design and it took a while to get from Binary to C++, just like it may take a while to get from Qu-nary to Q-up-up
