Maybe needlessly snarky but I didn't call anyone names or say anything that isn't a widely held perception by many people. I was responding to someone who brought up the generational issue in a particularly militant manner, not starting a flamewar.
- dang 9y agoBy 'name-calling' I mean stuff like "so damn whiny and self righteous". That isn't calling anyone in particular names, but it counts as the same thing for HN purposes, since it adds indignation rather than information. Generational flamewars are among the least substantive flamewars of all and they're particularly easy to avoid, so let's just all not go there.
- joejerryronnie 9y agoFair enough. It does feel like people can say all sorts of disparaging things about the generations that came before millennials without any consequences on HN. I understand millennials are probably the largest contingent of HN users but I would just ask that the rules be applied equally across the board.
