Laugh while you can monkey boys. That generation built the infrastructure you rely on daily. Way to pay it forward. Suddenly, they too will turn around and realize that they're above 40 and not in the preferred demo. It all comes around in the end. Sometimes the SDN boys need a salty old dog to ask if anyone has actually looked at the back of GigE interface to see if theres a cable actually plugged into it :)
- maxxxxx 9y agoDon't forget that nothing meaningful ever was built before Javascript.
- avs733 9y agoWhile at a certain level I can't help but agree with you, I think some self-reflection is in order. It is perfectly legal to discriminate against young people but not against older folks. Those laws were put into place by that generation you reference. Not to mention that the likely reason to target younger employees is because they can be paid less for the same job. That is a manifestation of the ongoing depowering of labor and individual laborers that was again driven by...that generation. Sometimes, a group reaps what they sow.
- tensor 9y agoHow is it legal to discriminate against young people?
- jeremyjh 9y agoWell, there is no law against discriminating by age against people who are below the age of 40. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_Discrimination_in_Employment_Act_of_1967 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_Discrimination_in_Employme...
- Clubber 9y agoHey man, 40 is young!
- pkaye 9y agoI believe age discrimination laws are only applicable to those who are 40 years and older.
- mankypro 9y agoAs a senior DevOps leader I do not discriminate based on age. I hire truly diverse teams, vertical, horizontal and diagonal.
- metakermit 9y agoYeah, that generation gave us all kinds of stuff… http://college.usatoday.com/2016/11/09/how-we-voted-by-age-education-race-and-sexual-orientation/ http://college.usatoday.com/2016/11/09/how-we-voted-by-age-e...
- wnkrshm 9y agoIt's interesting especially with the background that the workforce will be composed of more older rather than younger people in the coming years. Also, is your first sentence a Buckaroo Banzai quote?
