In the U.S. it’s kind of a joke. Bartenders will tease that a typical globe can in fact hold 20oz of wine, almost an entire bottle. You might not think so looking at it. So when you ask for a “half glass”, it’s a joke. But very few would actually pour 20oz. The globe is designed to be filled only partially, to allow aeration.
