We read that this is a common problem when we bought our Instant Pot so we went ahead and bought a couple of extra rings. One thing I've noticed though is that the black ring tends to not seal as well as the semi-clear ring that comes with the IP for some reason. I suspect other colored rings may have the same problem. That said, it's nice to have different colored rings so that you know "red ring for spicy", etc...
