Wait, you had a buzzin when the video card is active as well? Was yours dependent on the refresh rate on the video card? (I haven't found any other mention of a similar problem elsewhere, and mine has been doing that for a few years now.)

I can hear a small buzz when something is rendering as well. Turns out that in my case it was coming from the VGA cable making interferences in my loudspeakers cable. Moved the VGA away from the RCA, no buzz now.

'Coil whine' is the usual cause of that sound.
