Their employees are mostly or entirely remote workers, I think. Even bringing them all to one place once a year may be cheaper than maintaining office space, and you can pay everyone local salaries (since many will be in cities with sane costs of living instead of northern California, they’re probably cheaper to hire).
In other words, I seriously doubt they’re spending more, they are most likely using money more wisely than your average tech company.
