Um, this kind of thing happens quite often to men.
- peatmoss 9y agoAdding to this, I've had brilliant minority friends pass up opportunity because it even contained the faint smell of “you got this because you’re X.” I think there are categories other than gender where people have sensitivity to the appearance that advancement or favor was the result of alterior motives. I’d argue anyone with something to give experiences this to greater and lesser degrees too. People write songs about this phenomenon and its complement (“Nobody knows you when you’re down and out”).
