Life gives us all different cards to play. In some ways, I agree today's kids have it tougher. In other ways, there are opportunities that did not exist in the past. I have hopes for today's recent grads in that things remind me somewhat of the mid 80s. (That's when I graduated college.) The economy was ready to boom for a good long time. Some jobs were going away, some were opening up. I was lucky enough to get a job in programming, the economy carried me forward to this day. I wish the same good luck to future generations.
