I always wondered how distributed systems like Spanner/TrueTime would scale when we build a datacenter on Mars. Mars-Earth round-trip-times are in the order of minutes. We are lucky that earthbound round-trip-times are nearly imperceptibly short. Interplanetary internet is going to pose interesting challenges.
