- pc86 9y agoI don't mean to downplay that issue but what does that have to do with Puerto Rico? It seems like any article we have about Important Issue A there's always at least one (usually several) comments that are something along the lines of "yeah well Important Issue B is also important/worse/better/something!"
- Jill_the_Pill 9y agoIt's relevant because it (further) demonstrates our remarkable collective ability to ignore really big and dangerous problems.

- pharrington 9y agoHe's not saying the Flint crisis is more important/worse compared to Puerto Rico. He's observing that in Flint, an artificial catastrophe happened that humans know how to solve, and at least the US federal government has the resources to solve, but for some reason remains unsolved three+ years later. In Puerto Rico there was much larger scale, natural disaster, of which even the power supply repercussions alone have uncertain solutions. edit: I originally posted "He's not downplaying the Puerto Rican crisis," but changed my wording in case of confusion.
