I use almost the same method. I make my coffee into one of those tall double-walled insulated mugs. I put the coffee into the AeroPress, add hot water to the top and stir. By the time I'm done stiring, 8 seconds, the water has dripped out an inch or so, which I fill back up and put in the plunger. I push it down a bit to create some pressure, then let it sit for 30 seconds. Push it down the rest of the way and it's ready!
