It's back up there now, thankfully.
- rectang 9y agoGone again. The culture won't stand for it.
- paul7986 9y agoWhat's up with the ability to flag posts here unless they are duplicates? Shouldn't admins only have the ability to flag a post for being inappropriate? This is being flagged off the front page because various Hacker Newsers are sexist. Isn't this a place for progress? Signed a dude!
- davidcuddeback 9y agoIt's kinda silly IMO that this keeps getting flagged. I vouched for it a few hours ago, which seemed to help get it back to the front page. You have more karma than I do, so you may be able to help too. If you haven't already, you can scroll to the top of the page and click the "vouch" link under the title.
- rectang 9y agoI don't have the "vouch" link. It was probably taken away because I kept vouching for articles like this one.
- paul9290 9y agoI just logged in with my other paul account(im paul7986 above) and this account has over 1k of karma points yet I am not seeing a vouch link. How much karma do you have to have for the vouch link to appear?
- davidcuddeback 9y agoI have just over 1000 as well. Not sure why I saw it and not others. Maybe the article has to be "[dead]" for vouch to appear. (It was "[flagged] [dead]" when I vouched it.)
- curtis 9y agoTry emailing the mods -- you can just use the "contact" link at the bottom of the page. I think the subject matter is on topic for Hacker News, which is why I submitted it. Often times these types of articles lead to discussions that "generate more heat than light" (a term dating back to at least Usenet if not earlier), which is understandably not too welcome on HN. There seems to be more "light" than usual in this thread though.
- gspetr 9y agoPeople seem to disagree with your assessment. Hacker News Guidelines What to Submit Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon. Ideological or political battle or talking points.
