I actually think I've experienced something similar across every OS I've ever used. With Linux distros I was always able to trigger it by opening and closing the lid a few times. With Windows, I don't remember the exact sequence or what version. Overall, there appears to be something funky with this overlay technique and how things are asynchronously rendered.
