What an incredible waste.
- matte_black 9y agoTell that to the business that runs the ship.
- gerdesj 9y agoWhy?
- andrepd 9y agoA significant amount of the population of the world lives in poverty and destitution, while arguably working just as hard or even more than these millionaires. I can see it definitely seems like a waste, in the grand context of things.
- scarface74 9y agoJust to put things in perspective, a lot of the world that lives in poverty would also see the lifestyle of the top 10% (household income around $160K) to be extravagant and wasteful.
- caseysoftware 9y agoYes, anyone with values and priorities different from our own look wasteful. I bought a new car recently and when someone saw it, they said "what? you couldn't buy a used one? What a waste!" Since it was a 2013 with ~60k miles on it and just very well maintained, their statement said more about them than me.
- QAPereo 9y agoDo you think that you could similarly justify The World?
- scarface74 9y agoWhy should they? I don't walk around "justifying" my lifestyle choices to people who make less than I do.
- QAPereo 9y agoMaybe you should be forced to, if only for laughs.
- autokad 9y agohowever they want to spend their money. I just bought a 1969 Larry Csonka and 1968 Bob Griese. They serve no purpose, and there is a low but reasonable chance they are counterfeit.
- srtjstjsj 9y agoThey cloned football players every year, and sold them?
- junkscience2017 9y agosurely less impactful than the collective trash heap generated by coastal technocrats replacing their phones every year
- QAPereo 9y agoLess impactful than a lot of things, still an obscene waste.
- robryan 9y agoThere would be a lot of jobs created in support an operation like this. Outside of charity what else are these people going to do with their money? If they are already 60 there isn't much point investing it for the future unless it is about the next generation. The less wasteful way would have been to have taxation laws that prevented them accumulating that level of wealth to begin with.
