Not sure if anyone else was confused, but the cruise ship is called "The World".

      "Inverted commas" is a Britishism that refers to quote marks.

  When you are as self absorbed as it appears some of the residents are, then the World seems an appropriate name. It's a bloody great toy. I've cruised (wifey insisted) on some big ships and oddly enjoyed the experience eventually.
