Where Rappler falls in relation to its peers is not relevant. OP was making the point that Rappler is a real entity, headed by real people, who have real interests. Those interests are often less than saintly, and also have strong explanatory and predictive power. Edit: the same could be said (and needs to be said more often) about The New York Times.
