Opinion piece written by "a blockchain engineer at... a financial technology company in San Francisco." The premise is simply that Bitcoin uses less energy than physical cash production. Obviously this implies that Bitcoin will replace cash. If it doesn't -- if say the primary use case for Bitcoin remains currency speculation -- then the argument falls apart.
